Prohibited Items

Bambino's mission is to make second-hand baby gear feel as safe as new. Listing or buying any of the items below puts a baby at risk and is not allowed on Bambino. Sellers who list prohibited items will have their listings removed and may be banned from the platform. If you're unsure about an item, check our Marketplace Guidelines or email help@bambinoswap.com before listing.

Recalled Items

• Recalled cribs (drop-side cribs are banned by CPSC since 2011)
• Recalled car seats — check the manufacturer's recall page or the CPSC recall database
• Recalled inclined infant sleepers (banned by the Safe Sleep for Babies Act, 2022)
• Recalled rock-n-plays and similar inclined-sleeper-style products
• Any item under an active CPSC, FDA, NHTSA, or Health Canada recall

Used Items That Cannot Be Safely Resold

• Used breast pump parts and accessories that contact milk (FDA classifies most pump parts as single-user; only closed-system breast pumps with sanitized or replaceable accessory kits may be resold)
• Used car-seat straps, harnesses, or inserts after a moderate or severe crash (NHTSA guidance)
• Opened or expired infant formula
• Opened pacifiers, bottles, bottle nipples, or teethers (FDA single-use guidance)
• Used helmets (motorcycle, bike, sports) — structural integrity cannot be verified

Expired Items

• Expired car seats (typical 6–10 year manufacturer expiry — check the date stamped on the seat shell)
• Expired infant or child medications, vitamins, or supplements
• Expired sunscreen, diaper rash cream, or topical baby products
• Expired baby food or pouches

Items Illegal To Resell In Some U.S. States

• Cribs manufactured before June 2011 (the federal CPSC standard updated then; pre-2011 cribs are illegal to resell in all 50 states)
• Used child car seats with unknown crash history
• Drop-side cribs of any vintage (federal ban)
• Some states (e.g., CA, NY, NJ) have additional rules — when in doubt, do not list.

Hazardous Items

• Pre-1978 painted toys or furniture (lead-paint risk)
• Items with small magnets that can detach (CPSC choking and ingestion hazard)
• Crib bumpers and pillow-style sleep positioners (banned by the Safe Sleep for Babies Act, 2022)
• Bath seats and infant flotation devices not Coast Guard-approved
• Walkers with wheels (banned in Canada; advisory in U.S.)

General Prohibited Categories

• Adult content or sexual products
• Recalled food, formula, or medications of any kind
• Weapons, ammunition, or fireworks
• Counterfeit or replica branded items
• Items requiring prescriptions (medications, prescription nursing aids)
• Tobacco, vaping, or alcohol products
• Hazardous chemicals or pesticides
